The biography of
A painter, watercolorist and printmaker, Smith
was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His interest in Art took him to
studies at the St. Louis School of Fine Art and to Washington, D. C,
where he studied at the Corcoran Smith had a varying career as a landscape painter, teacher, print maker and stage designer. He was a member of the Wilton Group of Artists, The Kent Art Association, The Connecticut Watercolor Society, The Connecticut Academy and the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. The subject of his works were primarily landscapes and portraits although he became well known for his woodcut prints (which attracted regional recognition in New England), and later for his Southwest subjects.
